Joyce Lualaba is my kind of woman. She is Director of the Non Profit Greenlight For Girls Africa, currently focusing on encouraging young girls to consider future careers in science, engineering, technology and mathematics (STEM) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The organisation creatively nurtures an interest in STEM by engaging young girls in inspired and interactive workshops. An example of this being teaching the girls how computers are used in the micro-fermentation of cassava. Initiatives like this are what we need to empower young girls, challenge gender discrimination and pragmatically work towards gender equality in Africa. It’s amazing.
